Over the last couple of years, I’ve been battling my frizz. I mean, who am I kidding? I’ve been battling my frizz since I was born. You see, I have half curly/half straight hair. That being said, this combined with the Florida humidity makes hair look like I rubbed a balloon against it every day.

But, recently I’ve really been trying to lock that shit down. I hate feeling like my hair style won’t last because no matter what I do it ends up sticking out in all directions. So, I scoured the internet (or just Pinterest) and I found a “recipe” for something to remedy it. An Apple Cider Vinegar Rinse!

Apple Cider Vinegar’s acidity is close to that of natural hair. It’s a good conditioner and cleaning agent and it’s also a germ killer. Some benefits aside from frizz control include dandruff and itchy scalp relief, natural hair loss treatment, and it helps balance the pH levels of the hair.

Essentially what the Apple Cider Vinegar is doing is closing the cuticles scales on your hair and protecting the surface of each hair shaft. This makes it a smoother surface and leaves it sleek and shiny. What you do is fill a clear spray bottle (you can get them at any dollar store) with equal parts water and Apple Cider Vinegar.

Depending on how big the spray bottle you are using, (I recommend a small one) I fill up half the bottle with water and the other half with Apple Cider Vinegar. Then after you shampoo, you spray lightly from root to tip. Leave it in for a couple minutes, in this time I usually wash my body, shave my legs, wash my face, etc. Then, you rinse out the mix and condition as usual. I do this a couple times a week. I’m no expert and there is always a chance it doesn’t work for your hair if your hair lacks a certain amount of moisture.

Some people have reservations about trying it but here are some solutions to these. If you’re hair ends up greasy, then you probably need to put more water in it to dilute the solution. If it’s the smell you can’t handle, then you could put a couple drops of essential oil in or use tea instead of water. Voila! A natural recipe for frizz control.
