Barista's Choice Awards - Fall Favorites

In four different shops on campus, we asked the baristas a question: “What’s your favorite drink?” These guys are the coffee experts and are, in our caffeine-addicted opinion, everyday heroes. So here they are, the favorite drinks chosen by our favorite people - the ones who give our late-night studying that midnight boost.

Frosty Fox

Brown Sugar Latte

Location: University Towne Center

3265 SW 34th St #2, Gainesville, FL 32608

Manager Had Jun Chang mixes up his favorite drink, a brown sugar latte. The latte includes brown sugar, milk, and boba. Put the straw in, mix it up and enjoy!

Concord Coffee

Espresso

Oat Milk and Honey Cinnamon Latte

Location: Gator Wesley Foundation

1380 W University Ave, Gainesville, FL 32603

Nyna Van Eps and Elliott Nasby chose a classic staircase prom photo for their pictures. Nasby said his favorite drink is “just plain espresso.” On the other hand, Van Eps said her favorite is the oat milk and honey cinnamon latte. “The cinnamon is the key because the oat milk is so creamy it needs something,” Van Eps said.

Coffee Culture

Cortado Double Shot with Vanilla and Oat Milk

Location: 2020 NW 13th St, Gainesville, FL 32609

Mel Jamian asked if she could pick a drink Coffee Culture didn’t have. She moved to Gainesville three months ago and said her favorite drink is from her old employer, Buddy Brew, in Tampa, Florida. She said she’s been enjoying her move to Gainesville and her job at Coffee Culture. “It’s very nice very relaxed. I like the whole coffee shop atmosphere,” she said, “we have a lot of regulars too, which is cool.” Here’s to Mel, hoping that Coffee Culture starts selling cortados.

Pascal’s Coffeehouse

Iced Coconut Espresso

Location: 112 NW 16th St, Gainesville, FL 32603

Mitchell Shedd is a UF junior from Clearwater, Florida, and has been working at Pascal’s, a Christian-themed coffee shop just north of campus, since the beginning of the fall semester. He loves working at Pascal’s. “We get a ton of people here, but I enjoy it,” he said, “usually Thursday is my rest day but I pick up shifts because I actually like being here.”

Remember to always tip your barista! They have to deal with us before our cup of coffee. No one can be paid enough to go through that.
